SUMMARY:Cohousing Hamilton
DESCRIPTION:COHOUSING HAMILTON\nFind out WHAT it is\, WHERE it will be\, WHY people will live there\, WHO will live there & WHEN it will be built.\n\nDATE: THURSDAY\, MARCH 12\, 2020 \nTIME: 2:00 to 3:30; 6:30 to 8:00pm \nLOCATION: GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH HALL \n1107 MAIN STREET WEST\, HAMILTON \n(Parking is off Cline Ave next to Grace Hall\, the building with double doors) \n\n\nCOHOUSING is a form of intentional community for older adults or intergenerational living where people decide to create a neighbourhood that combines the autonomy of privately owned individual dwellings with the advantages of shared resources and community living. Co-developed\, co-designed and managed by the residents\, a cohousing community typically consists of between 10 and 35 dwelling units\, plus common space. Such a community will suit those looking for alternative living arrangements that are innovative rather than conventional and provide an opportunity to actively create their own neighbourhood. \nWhat’s not to like? Along with a recently formed steering committee\, we’re pleased to have retained the services of Cohousing Options Canada to help us navigate the path to establishing the first Cohousing Community in Hamilton. The event will be held at two different times on the same day. \nThe presentation will include a half hour video by Charles Durrett\, the architect who brought cohousing to North America from Denmark in the 1980s. If you’re interested in reading up on Cohousing\, Charles Durrett wrote a book called The Senior Cohousing Handbook\, A Community Approach to Independent Living\, second edition. \n\n\nThere is no cost but I would ask that you RSVP so I have an idea of numbers. \nPlease share this information with anyone you think might be interested in learning about living in a cohousing community and its many advantages. And feel free to contact Judy Shepalo if you have any questions ahead of time. \nJudy | 905-517-6494 | jshepalo@gmail.com
