A new program to provide seniors with opportunities to meet to enjoy outdoor exercise, to learn about local history and natural environments, and to encounter new people with similar interests.

Sponsors: Iroquoia Bruce Trail Conservancy, Hamilton Conservation Area,

                     & Hamilton Aging in Community

Date: Thursday, Oct. 17, 10:00am

Meeting Place: Confederation Park at The Sandbox Beach Bar, 680 Waterfront Trail.

caEnter through the Confederation Park gates and follow the signs to “Beaches Grill”, which have not yet been changed to the current name of “The Sandbox Beach Bar” where there is ample parking and public washrooms. We will walk west along the Waterfront Trail to view the 1812 Naval Memorial Garden and on to Baranga’s on the Beach to discuss the histories of these locations.

We will pass some Environmentally Sensitive Areas along the way to see the work the Hamilton Conservation Authority does to keep waterways healthy. We’ll return to the Sandbox Beach Bar for coffee and a snack. Depending on weather, current construction work on the damaged shoreline and the walking ability of the group we may go a little further afield, perhaps to Hutch’s, the Van Wagner Pond and the Stoney Creek Pond
